Work place romances are rarely a good idea, but for “NCIS: LA” agents Deeks and Kensi, it has been one of the best decisions of their lives. Well, it will be, at least until Assistant Director Shay Mosley brings her brand of decorum crashing down on Densi’s heads.

Agents dating their partners? No Bueno. An agent marrying their partner? Definitely not.

Is Densi doomed on ‘NCIS: LA’?

Somewhere between Granger’s (Miguel Ferrer) departure and Hetty’s (Linda Hunt) apparent retirement (more on that later), a power vacuum will open at the Office of Special Projects.

To fill the void, secret service agent Shay Mosley (Nia Long) will step up as assistant director.

As her first order of business, Mosley will look to eliminate the Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) issue by removing the later from the picture.

“As tolerant as Hetty was for their relationship, Assistant Director Mosely is much more rigid in her thinking about workplace romance, especially amongst one person who doesn't really even belong there," showrunner R. Scott Gemmill told TV Guide. "She actually, in the first episode, takes steps to see that Deeks is returned to LAPD."

Well, that’s one way to kick off the season. While we’re certain the couple could survive the separation, we’re not sure we will.

Deeks, meanwhile, will also harbor the added pressure of telling Mama Deeks (Pamela Reed) about his impending nuptials.

“Kensi and Deeks will have some wedding hurdles as Deeks is hesitant to tell his mother that they are engaged,” Entertainment Weekly recently reported.

Not to worry, however. The premiere will pay a little visit to Mrs.

Deeks, hopefully supplying us with a few answers regarding Marty’s chary attitude.

The Densi drama is just one of the many interpersonal conflicts that will arise in the wake of the Season 8 finale. “NCIS: LA” might not have left us with a cliffhanger, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be repercussions.

Where is Hetty?

The OSPs venerable leader will be MIA as Season 9 begins, as per TV Guide.

Everyone from Callen (Chris O'Donnell) to Nell (Renee Felice Smith) will be fed a line regarding her sudden retirement, but Hetty’s failure to bid even a cursory farewell will have the team on high alert. And they should be.

Instead of taking in her golden years in a well-stocked library with hourly tea service, Ms. Lange will go rogue following Granger’s disappearance. Wherever Hetty is, perhaps she can hear our official plea for her to return ASAP. With Sam (LL Cool J) resolute in his decision to put NCIS behind him, Mosley’s iron-fisted reign, and Deeks pending relocation, the OSP needs a sagacious leader who can’t take no for an answer.
