“NCIS: Los Angeles” season 9 is off to an explosive start.
Filming for the fall premiere kicked off last week, dropping Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Kensi (Daniela Ruah) into the middle of a hostage situation. From behind-the-scenes photos to LL Cool J’s take on Sam’s “reluctant” return, keep reading to get the latest teasers for “Party Crashers.”
'NCIS: LA' is locked and loaded
Several months off the job has done little to hamper O’Donnell and Ruah’s crime fighting prowess. The pair was caught filming in Eagle Rock last week, dodging bullets as a hostage situation escalated.
After the “NCIS: LA” crew granted her home a starring role in the premiere, the owner took to Instagram to share a little snippet of the action as it unfolded. Click through the tweet below to get a look at Callen and Kensi as they dive for cover.

Meanwhile, the rest of the episode will hop between beaches and nightclubs as two members of the team grapple with their personal lives. Sam (LL Cool J), still reeling from the loss of his wife, will take up residence in a trailer. On sick leave, the former Navy SEAL will attempt to put a little distance between himself and the peril of his daily job.
“They're trying to figure out how they're going to work Sam back into things because he's really reluctant, so we gotta see how that's gonna unfold,” the actor told Extra TV.
Viewers will also catch up with Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) who, despite a potential multi-month time jump, has decided to keep his pending nuptials a secret from his mother.
Why he feels the need to hide his engagement is a mystery, but one the premiere might answer. According to executive producer John Peter Kousakis, the season opener will pay a visit to Mrs. Deeks (Pamela Reed).

Despite a storyline involving the LAPD’s K-9 unit, Monty, the retired bomb-sniffer and Deeks’ consummate companion, will not appear in “Party Crashers.” The cast should keep a little rawhide on hand since the pup will pop up before the season is through.
Next time on ‘NCIS: LA’
Although the CBS drama only jump started its production machine last week, “NCIS: LA” already has two season 9 episodes on the books. Filmed back in April and May, these episodes will likely find an air date ahead of the midseason finale.
Later this week, “NCIS: LA” will begin shooting episode 2, “Assets.”
Catch the season 9 premiere Sunday, Oct. 1 at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The series will move to its regular 9 p.m. ET timeslot the following week.
