“Guardians of the Galaxy” writer and director James Gunn is working on the script of the third installment and has said that he finds it more challenging than the previous two volumes. In an interview, he talked about a whole lot of things regarding the upcoming installment and also shed light on the various aspects of the previous two volumes.
Expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe
James Gunn has said that he and Kevin Feige regularly hold discussions about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He revealed that they talk about the future of the characters as in where they will be placed in the times to come and how they will shape up in the coming Marvel movies.
As fans know, “Guardians 3” is going to be the culmination of MCU and the third installment of the Guardians will also mark the end of the current lineup. So, many have been wondering if Vol.2 would lead the Guardians mantle, but Gunn has clarified that Marvel is not thinking of any such plan.
Gunn finalized music for Guardians Vol. 3
James Gunn also confirmed that he had selected the music for the third installment and it would delight fans to know that they are quite different from the songs the first two movies possessed. It is speculated that the film would have a pretty good number of songs from the 80s and 90s. Gunn also disclosed an interesting detail about the music of the previous installments saying that he had made arrangements for the cast members to listen to the music through a hidden earpiece.
In fact, he feels that music played a big role in making the third act impactful, and so did the bond the actors shared off-screen.
Gunn believes in detailed screenplay writing
Gunn said that the writing for the third film turned out to be challenging as he had to put a lot of elements together. Writing for the third film required grace and elegance and hence, it was relatively tougher.
He also made it known that he considers writing process of a movie to be similar to creating the human body as in laying down a solid basis even if is time taking. He feels that giving the story a fine treatment is a must and he does so by writing elaborately and his stories take up as many as seventy pages. He has given the same treatment to all his movies.
It is worth mentioning here that the title of the third installment has not been finalized till date, but it is being referred to as “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” for the time being. Also, the release date of Vol. 3 is not yet clear.
