Fans rejoiced when the news of "Grey’s Anatomy" making its way back to the small screen, broke out. The medical drama’s fourteenth season will premiere on September 28, on ABC this year. With hardly a month to go, fans are wondering what angle the show-runners might explore this TIME.
Krista Vernoff will make a comeback
Executive producer, Krista Vernoff who wrote the first eight seasons of "Grey’s Anatomy," will be rejoining the show for its fourteenth season, a report by Hollywood Reporter suggests. With her being on board, it seems like the show is going to revisit its roots.
Her return has also excited some of the actors on the show. Kelly McCreary (Maggie) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Andrew DeLuca) recently made a statement, expressing their joy of working with Krista again. Krista started the show as something that makes its viewers laugh, and she wants to be able to continue that theme, they said. Some of her iconic work can be reflected through the best episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, including “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” “Into You Like a Train,” and “Good Mourning.” The post by Hollywood Reporter also suggested that the upcoming season’s pilot episode is going to be two hours long. The episode will serve as a “light and bouncy” update on all the main characters of the show.
Story and plot
The serious topics will also be touched upon, most important of them being Megan (Owen’s sister) and her controversial return. She had disappeared for most of the time in the show. It was later known that she was held hostage in Iraq. While it is certainly a relief for Owen to discover that his sister is still alive, this doesn’t necessarily come across as good news for Meredith (Ellen Pompeo).
Megan’s return is obviously going to jeopardize Meredith’s romantic inclination towards Nathan (Megan’s ex).
Fans are also hoping that substantial light will be shed on Teddy Altman’s (Kim Raver) character and the unstable rapport he shares with Owen and his wife, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone). Maggie, who only recently lost her mother, will probably take a back seat in terms of screen-time this season.
Viewers will also be treated with something new as far as Arizona’s (Jessica Capshaw) story-line in the show, is concerned. Moreover, there will also be quite a few guest celebrities appearing throughout the span of this season. Characters are going to be seen maturing, given the drama that most of them have gone through.
