The actor has officially been cast on the NBC soap opera, and "DOOL" fans can expect to see him on the show later this year. The rumors began to circulate about Tyler's casting earlier this week. It was confirmed by a brand new video of the "DOOL" cast celebrating Marci Miller's birthday, where Tyler Christopher was seen celebrating with the cast, including Louise Sorel, who plays Vivian Alamain. It looks like Vivian will be returning to Salem, but will EJ DiMera follow?
Big changes are coming to Salem
"Days Of Our Lives" viewers know that new head writer, Ron Carlivati, has a very special vision for what he wants to see in Salem in the coming months, and it looks like bringing some old favorite characters back to town is a big part of that plan.
"DOOL" fans already know that Vivian will return, and that Chandler Massey will be returning as Will Horton. Actress Alison Sweeney is also set to reprise her role as Sami Brady for a 2-month stint, which has led many fans to believe the character of EJ DiMera could be returning to the soap. However, actor James Scott seemingly has no interest in returning to the role, so a re-cast may be in order. This is where Tyler Christopher comes in.
Could the actor possibly be playing EJ later this year?
Will Tyler Christopher be playing EJ DiMera or Nikki Alamain?
While "Days of our Lives" fans have been hoping for an EJ DiMera return, there could be another explanation for why Tyler Christopher has been added to the cast. Soap Cities reports that the actor could be playing Vivian Alamain's beloved nephew, Nikki Alamain.
Nikki is the son of Carly Manning, but was raised by his Aunt Vivian. He first learned that Carly was his mother back in 1993. At first he did not want anything to do with her, but later warmed up to the idea of having both of his parents together. He set out to get Carly and Lawrence together, which meant he needed to break up his mother's relationship with Bo Brady.
Later that year Nikki got his wish and he left Salem with his parents.
Nikki's former ties to Salem
However, in 1999, Nikki returned to Salem with Vivian, who had been plotting against Stefano DiMera. Nikki met Kate Roberts and fell head over heels in love with her. As many "Days of our Lives" fans may remember, Nikki and Kate became lovers, but she did not want to make a full-time commitment to him. He left town again after Kate broke his heart.
Nikki wasn't seen again until 2011 when he came back to Salem to visit his mother, Carly, in rehab and meet his half-sister, Melanie, who is the daughter of Carly and Daniel Jonas. Later that year, Nikki, Carly, and Melanie all left Salem to live in Europe. Perhaps, "DOOL" fans will see him in Salem again before the year is over.
