Chris Pratt personally accepted his recognition at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards as the Choice Sci-Fi Movie Actor for his "Guardians of the Galaxy" role on Sunday. His attendance at the awarding ceremony marked his first public appearance since he delivered the unfortunate news of his separation from Anna Faris.
Pratt and Faris announce separation in a joint statement
On August 6, the actor was the first to announce that he and his wife are legally separating after eight years of marriage. Both parties refused to provide further details about the split and asked the public to respect their privacy.
Not much has been said about their decision to call it quits, but Patti Stanger recently revealed that the celebrity couple are still living under the same roof even after the announcement. The "Million Dollar Matchmaker" star is even hoping that the two will change their minds about the separation.
She also ruled out any possibilities of infidelity and guaranteed that Christ Pratt and Anna Faris still care for each other. Representatives of both actors, however, clarified that Patti Stanger's comments are invalid since she is not an authorized spokesperson of the couple.
Pratt steps out after split from Faris
But despite the current status of his marriage, the "Passengers" star finally made his first attendance at the Teen Choice Awards after 13 years.
The 38-year-old actor was wearing a button-down shirt under his black woven jacket and paired these with black pants to complete his casual look. Chris Pratt started his acceptance speech by thanking his supporters before he dropped a joke on the audience.
"Many years ago, when I came to Los Angeles, I came from Hawaii and I had this blonde hair and tan, and I met an agent, because I really wanted to be an actor," he started off.
"And he said "Wow bro, you must surf," and I said, "Uh, yeah." And that was the first of many lies that I told to get to where I am today."
Chris Pratt was the first to make a public appearance after he and Anna Faris announced that they were separating. He, however, refused to speak about the issue to the media since both of them wanted to make the split a private matter.
Before his appearance to the 2017 Teen Choice Awards, the father of one was seen headed to attend a church service in Los Angeles. It is worth noting that Chris Pratt was no longer wearing his wedding ring when he stepped out from his car.
However, this is not the first time he was spotted without it even before the split announcement. A couple of weeks before they confirmed they were separating, Chris Pratt was photographed without his wedding ring at the red carpet premiere of "Ingrid Goes West" in Hollywood, California.
