Every month, dozens of new shows and films become available on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and HBO Now. With so many streaming services, it is tough for the subscribers to keep track of all of them. However, Netflix has been giving tough competition to other streaming websites for years.

The following shows and movies are coming to the streaming giant this month.

Five movies on Netflix

Subscribers can enjoy these films on Netflix:

  • Jackie Brown’ – “Jackie Brown” is Quentin Tarantino’s third major project, following 1992's “Reservoir Dogs” and 1994's “Pulp Fiction.” The story is inspired by a novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard. The cast includes Pam Grier, Robert Forster, Samuel L. Jackson, and Bridget Fonda.
  • Bad Santa’ – Released in 2003, “Bad Santa” is one of the major hits of Terry Zwigoff’s career. It was John Ritter’s last movie before his death in September 2003. A sequel, “Bad Santa 2,” was released in November 2016, which did not impress the fans as much as “Bad Santa” did.
  • The Matrix’ – If you are a fan of science fiction films, “The Matrix” is the right pick for you. The film met critical acclaim in 1999 and won three Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, and two Saturn Awards. The Hollywood Reporter admired “The Matrix” for its innovative cinematography and visual effects.
  • Holes’ – In a series of flashbacks, the history of Camp Green Lake is revealed in this film. You may watch “Holes” on Netflix from August 5; this adventure film is directed by Andrew Davis and produced by Lowell Blank.
  • Sing’ – “Sing” is reportedly coming to the streaming giant on August 3. Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Tori Kelly, Nick Kroll and Taron Egerton attended the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, where “Sing” competed for a prize.

Three original programs

The following programs are coming to Netflix this month:

  • Death Note’ – If you are a fan of Japanese series, you may watch “Death Note” on Netflix. This series will be available on the streaming service from August 25. “Death Note” follows a high school student, Light Yagami, who attempts to rule the world using his supernatural powers.
  • Voltron: The Legendary Defender’ – The third season of “Voltron: Legendary Defender” is reportedly coming to Netflix on August 4. It consists of seven episodes and is a reboot of “Beast King GoLion.” Its first two seasons are already available on the streaming giant.
  • Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later’ – This brand new series is coming to Netflix on August 4. Written by Michael Showalter, “Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later” is a sequel to “Wet Hot American Summer.” According to Vanity Fair, the show is set in 1991 and inspired by a novel of the same name.
