“Wonder Woman” is still doing wonders at the global box office, but the studio executives and fans alike lick their chops for what’s next for Diana Princess and Gal Gadot.
A recent report by Screenrant reveals that the next chapter of the heroine's story is set in the 1980s during the end of cold war. The news outlet also claims that Patty Jenkins is back to direct “Wonder Woman 2.” Most astonishing of all is the rumor that the new movie will feature Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. That is certainly surprising, but we should not forget that the onscreen chemistry of Gal and Chris has been superb.
Whether by descendants or resurrection, Pine and Gadot will take the story of Steve Trevor and Princess Diana to the next level.
Story details revealed
According to a report by Uproxx, “Wonder Woman 2” will be another historical adventure just like the original film. It is set in the 1980s and may bring Diana Princess back in another adventurous battle, this time in the Soviet Union. Screenrant reports that the timeline is set in the last few days of Cold War. If you had watched “Wonder Woman,” you might remember that the film was set in World War I. How will the sequel fit into the timeline of “Batman v. Superman?” With the DCU in its infancy and given the previous audience and critical difficulties for the story, no doubt Warner Bros.
will be careful.
A separate report by TheWrap suggests that Diana Princess will be sent to the Cold War where she may fight the Soviet Union forces. The news website also claims that director Patty Jenkins and producer Geoff Johns are currently working on the script of “Wonder Woman 2.” They are reportedly negotiating the movie and may finalize the cast by the end of this August.

The cast of the new movie
As we already told you, Chris Pine, who played Steve Trevor in “Wonder Woman,” is back to the sequel.
The question is how he fits into the new script if “Wonder Woman 2” is set after the events of the original film. Uproxx claimed that details about his return as Steve Trevor would remain undisclosed for a few weeks.
Hopefully, Warner Bros. will make an official announcement regarding who is in and who is out. At this point, the studio has not even confirmed whether Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, and Elena Anaya are returning or not.
What do you expect from "Wonder Woman 2?" Will it break the records of the first film?
