History Channel’s historical drama series “Vikings” Season 5 air date is yet to be determined. There have been several speculations and theories about the next installment’s premiere date but the latest is that it might be announced in the forthcoming San Diego Comic-Con.
Season 4 finale was on Feb. 1, 2017, and its creator, Michael Hirst promised all fans that they will get to see the characters on camels in the upcoming season. He is particularly referring to Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig), the son of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), the legendary Norseman.
Recently, fans were treated to the first look of the upcoming installment featuring Bjorn and other characters.
Michael Hirst is true to his promise
Entertainment Weekly shared the first look of “Vikings” Season 5 with Bjorn Ironside including the other Norsemen scorching in the desert. However, Hirst admitted that they had a hard time filming the scene as they can’t replicate the desert in West Ireland. "I always knew the real Bjorn Ironside went into the Mediterranean and found himself in what is now Tunisia, on the edge of the Sahara,” he told EW. “One of the things that was constraining us was that we couldn’t reproduce the Sahara desert in the west of Ireland.”
Apparently, the cast and crew of “Vikings” Season 5 filmed the Sahara desert scene in Morocco, with the creator being pleased with the result of the filming.
He took pride in the scene and said that everyone has never witnessed that palette on the series in the past, which is “exquisite and wonderful.” Meanwhile, a photo of Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh) was also shared by EW, where he is being trapped in the rain while traveling around and crashed the chariot he was hopped in.
The photo showed him laughing and taunting at the Saxon warriors, who are surrounding him.
Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is also featured in one photo sticking his beloved sword to someone while the rest can be seen fighting their enemies.
