The CW’s “Supernatural” Season 13 promises to be another challenging season for the Winchesters Sam and Dean as they deal with multiple losses from the previous season. Aside from losing valuable allies, they are also faced with Lucifer’s baby which may again put the brothers at odds with each other given their different points of view.
Death and Resurrection
“Supernatural” cast members Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester), Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) and Misha Collins (Castiel) sat down in an interview with E! and shared their point of view on what death means in the show.
Unlike other series, Padalecki said that they tell their guest stars that their death on the show is a good thing because it means the door is wide open for them to come back. Dean, one of the main characters of the show, died multiple times in the episode “Mystery Spot” alone, has also found himself in Hell or Purgatory after major battles.
Collins said that he has stopped reading the script in advance since “Supernatural” Season 6 to save himself the pain of having to deal with his own character’s death. It can be recalled that during last season’s finale, Cas was one of the casualties. The good news for fans is that he is coming back for Season 7, but not entirely.
“He’s very dead … more dead than usual,” Collins said about his “Supernatural” comeback.
He assured that “the most important parts” will be back on the show. The trio refused to divulge what the major change will be in character but its expected to affect the angel in a major way.
Conflict between the brothers
Sam and Dean have always had each other’s backs, but the brothers are as different as night and day. While they have resolved trust issues in previous seasons, they faced even more challenging enemies with Lucifer and the British Men of Letters in “Supernatural” Season 12.
However, the conflict between the Winchesters threatens to rear its ugly head again as they deal with Lucifer’s Nephilim Jack.
Padalecki said that at the beginning of “Supernatural” Season 13, Dean will want to kill Lucifer’s child straight off the bat. However, Sam, being optimistic and a long term kind of guy will call for caution and want to give Jack the benefit of the doubt.
Sam will argue that Jack is half human and that his mom Kelly was a good person so he would want to give time to Lucifer’s son to make a choice between good and evil.
Sam will argue that Jack is half human and that his mom Kelly was a good person. He would want to give time to Lucifer’s son to make a choice between good and evil. Dean will be opposed to prolonging the threat of the unknown.
“There's a great adage no rest for the weary. We've lost so much but we have something else that we have to deal with that we've never dealt with before. We’ll see what happens but Sam and Dean are definitely trying to deal with the task at hand. The game is definitely not over,” Padalecki said about what to expect for “Supernatural” Season 13.
