When it comes to massive film franchises such as Marvel's "Avengers" and its respective heroes' solo outings, it may be quite tricky to keep up with the timeline. With "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers 4" finally concluding several of the Marvel heroes' stories, it isn't surprising that the film studio is already launching new superheroes to carry on the Marvel mantle.

Take for example "Ant-Man," "Doctor Strange," "Black Panther," and the recently released "Spider-Man: Homecoming," which features a much younger Peter Parker. The film, which was a collaboration between Marvel and Sony, was a modest success, and a sequel has been confirmed with returning director Jon Watts, Deadline reported.

But in terms of the MCU timeline, where does the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel find itself?

Peter Parker survives the events of 'Infinity War'

A bit of a spoiler and no surprise here, Peter Parker from "Spider-Man: Homecoming," who suits up to fight alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes in "Avengers: Infinity War," will find himself surviving the War and "Avengers 4," as the sequel to his standalone film will take place after the fourth untitled "Avengers" flick. As per Digital Spy, producer Amy Pascal said that "We are starting the next one which will start a few minutes after 'Avengers 4' wraps as a story."

It would be interesting to see a world post-Thanos, given that the War will see an end to his evil motivations.

However, it would also be interesting to find out what type of foes Spider-Man will be fighting back on Earth. Will he go back into the city and fight more local criminals? Or does he await for another intergalactic foe?

'Avengers 4' will see the end of some heroes

During this year's San Diego Comic Con, the Russo Brothers hinted at the deaths of some heroes in "Infinity War" and "Avengers 4." Of course, Spider-Man is clearly not one of them, but the directors promised "some very intense surprises" in the upcoming "Avengers" films.

Some fans have already begun placing their bets on who are slated to die in the upcoming films, but it may be already safe to say that Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange, whose trilogies are yet unfinished, will all survive the War. As per the older generation of Avengers headed by Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man, they may be in the running for retirement come "Avengers 4." As for Tom Holland, he'll reprise his role in the upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel, which is slated to arrive after "Avengers 4" in 2019.
