It’s official! Netflix has renewed “Castlevania” for another season. But the better part of this news is that the streaming giant has doubled the number of episodes for Season 2.

The amazing news comes on the heels of the season debut of “Castlevania” on Netflix last Friday. Frederator Studios, a subsidiary of Wow! Unlimited Media will again be producing the animated series. However, it is still unclear whether Warren Ellis will again write “Castlevania” Season 2.

Since its debut, “Castlevania” received mixed reviews. But generally, this video game adaptation has hit the mark when it comes to animated adaptations compared to the likes of “Dragon Ball Z” movie, “Assassin’s Creed,” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” which are total duds.

Plot

NetflixCastlevania” is based on the 1990 NES game “Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse.” The series follows the last remaining survivor of the disgraced Belmont clan, Trevor Belmont, who has taken the responsibility of attempting to stop the horde of evil unleashed by Vlad Dracula Tepes on Wallachia.

He is aided by a speaker/magician Sypha Belnades and Dracula’s half-breed son Alucard. The trio will attempt to restore peace and save the innocent civilians who are caught in a war clearly begun by the church.

Voice actors

Instead of employing huge names in the voice-acting world, Netflix instead went after big-name actors to give life to the characters in the animated series. Perhaps, this decision was not taken lightly and the streaming giant may have succeeded.

Behind the powerful and not-so-evil villain, Vlad Dracula Tepes is Graham McTavish. You might remember him as Dwalin in “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” or his more recent role in “Preacher” as the Saint of Killers.

And who would have guessed that Richard Armitage would voice Trevor Belmont, the main protagonist of the animated series?

You might remember him as Thorin Oakenshield in “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”

Voicing as Lisa, Dracula’s beloved wife and his only reason for tolerating humans is “Supernatural” actress Emily Swallow. And then you have the half-breed son Alucard who is voiced by the English actor James Callis (Battlestar Galactica).

Sypha Belnades, the speaker/magician, is voiced by Alejandra Reynoso from “G.I.

Joe: Renegades.” The Bishop, the main antagonist of Season 1, other than Dracula of course, is voiced by “Orphan Black’s” Matt Frewer.

Season 2 release date
