The demands of the day can sometimes be too taxing that we often find ourselves stressed and ineffective. If you're anything like me, when the day gets too toxic and I can't seem to function anymore, the songs below always help me relax and recover.

1. 'The Night We Met' by Lord Huron

This song is a soundtrack from the Netflix series "13 Reasons Why" and I cannot seem to recover from the soothing effect this song gives me. It talks about having everything you could ever want and then lose it all. I know the lyrics are sad but personally, there's something about the melody that keeps me quiet and relaxed.

2. 'How Do You Feel Today?' by Gabrielle Aplin

Aside from the angelic voice of Gabrielle Aplin, this song talks about accepting the help of others. It's about leaving all your fears behind and to start trusting the people who offer nothing but their care for you. It's about asking someone you know who's depressed, and you want to help them, but they just won't accept it. I know it has a sad ring to it, but I like how the lyrics express itself.

3. 'Heartbeats' by Daniela Andrade

This song is a cover by Daniela Andrade, and I like this because it talks about love and having someone you can lean on. Aside from the soothing voice of Daniela, the song's beat and melody make it like a slow-dance song so you really can't help but sway with it when listening.

4. 'Sleep on the Floor' by The Lumineers

If you happen to love this song just by listening to it, I know for a fact that you will like this, even more, when you've seen the music video. The Lumineers' hit song "Sleep on the Floor" talks about a young couple taking on the world with nothing but their love. It has a fun and loving kind of vibe, and I like it because it gives me a break from the real world.

It talks about taking risks and just letting go.

5. 'Are We There Yet' by Ingrid Michaelson

This song by Ingrid Michaelson talks about finding yourself as well as your home may it be a person or a place. I like this song because it reminds me every time I listen to it that there's more to work, jobs, and bills. That the meaning of life is not encapsulated in just ourselves but on the effect, we have on other people's lives as well.

Aside from the beautiful melody, Ingrid's voice in this one is simply perfect.

6. 'The Girl' by City and Colour

From the intro to the end, I love this song because it's romantic and heartfelt. This song is about a man trying to chase his dreams, and he's telling his girl to remember that wherever he might be, she's the most important dream of his life. And he just wants to become better so he can offer her a better life. The song starts with a slow tune and then finishes in an upbeat kind of way thereby making it more beautiful and appealing.
