There will be no happy ending in sight for Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian, the former married couple whose divorce was finally finalized in December 2016. After seven years of marriage littered with cheating scandals and Odom's struggle with drug addiction, the professional basketball player and reality TV star has finally parted ways and are never getting back together. Kardashian is currently dating another basketball star in the form of Tristan Thompson, while Odom is slowly but carefully picking up the pieces and rebuilding his life following his close brush with death after overdosing on drugs in 2015.

The 37-year old admitted to "The Wendy Williams Show" host Wendy Williams that not getting back together "would be the best for both of us. We have to keep our distance."

Khloe Kardashian thinks Lamar Odom has a 'great heart'

There are no hard feelings between Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian, who both struggled to become parents when they were still married. In a recent "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" episode, however, Kardashian admitted that she faked trying to get pregnant, as she believed that her marriage situation with Odom wasn't a right one to raise a child in. Nonetheless, Kardashian still believes that Odom has a "great heart" and is a "beautiful person," PEOPLE reported. Kardashian still wants to start a family of her own and has been very vocal about having children with her current boyfriend, Tristan Thompson.

Kardashian-Odom marriage was 'toxic'

During his visit to "The Wendy Williams Show," Lamar Odom admitted that he now has a strained relationship with the Kardashians after his divorce with Khloe. He shared that he no longer talks to Rob Kardashian, with whom he used to have a close relationship with. He assumed that it was all because of his failures as a husband to Khloe that also drove a wedge between him and Rob.

But Rob isn't the only one affected by their failed marriage. Odom's daughter, Destiny, spoke to PEOPLE in June to shed light on what it was like witnessing the failed marriage firsthand. The 17-year old said that "Their relationship is very toxic" and that her father's issues with drug addiction were "humiliating" for her.

She shared that after Odom's marriage to Kardashian, their private lives weren't so private anymore, as the Kardashians were often the subject of many headlines, especially with their reality TV show. Now, Odom is focusing on getting better and is committed to getting better for his family.
