Diehard DC fans were given a treat at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday when Warner Bros. released the latest trailer for its upcoming superhero film, “Justice League.” Unfortunately, some fans were left baffled as the beloved Superman character (played by Henry Cavill) was not spotted in the four-minute clip.

The latest DC movie trailer gave a glimpse of Steppenwolf while in action. Other characters were also seen with fans spotting Alfred (Jeremy Irons) at the end of the trailer. Unfortunately, nobody has seen Superman, even his shadow.

Does it mean that the movie ditched the famous superhero character?

Where is the Man of Steel?

Following the release of the newest “Justice League” trailer, many fans questioned the whereabouts of Superman aka Man of Steel after he was missing in action in the short teaser. But Screen Rant hinted that the character, which is played by Cavill, might be the one who Alfred was talking to.

Even though Jason Momoa, the actor who portrays the role of Aquaman, told a young fan that “Superman is dead.” Gal Gadot aka Wonder Woman hinted that Man of Steel fans would definitely love the new DC superhero movie.

“We can’t say much, but if you’re a big fan of Superman, then I’m sure you’re going to be very, very happy to watch Justice League,” Gadot said during the cast’s Comic-Con Q&A.

Momoa, on the other hand, retracted his previous statement that Cavill’s character is dead by telling the fans not to worry because the superhero is alive.

Cavill’s reaction

Henry Cavill also has something to say when it comes to his absence in the movie trailer.

The 34-year-old British actor took to Instagram and shared the “Justice League” trailer with a caption, “All in! Well, almost.”

Cavill’s post earned a comment from fellow superhero actor Momoa, who told the former “The Tudors” star that he missed him. Cavill then responded, “Missed you guys too! You guys should do something about that.” The response also came with a wink emoticon.

Green Lantern also MIA?

Warner Bros. and DC, however, have yet to confirm the appearance of Cavill in the upcoming movie. But fans have seen the superhero’s images, along with the photos of other DC heroes in the film’s marketing plans.

Unfortunately, it was not just Clark Kent aka Superman who seems nowhere to be found in the movie. According to Ciarán Hinds, who plays the villain Steppenwolf, there will be “no Lanterns to guard the Earth,” hinting the possible absence of Green Lantern in the movies.

Other missing characters also include Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter. But based on the cast of characters listed by Variety, Cavill and Ben Affleck will be joining the ensemble cast that also includes Gadot, Mamoa.

Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, and J. K. Simmons.

No more ‘Batman’ for Affleck?

Speaking of Ben Affleck, who plays Bruce Wayne aka Batman in the upcoming movie, the actor recently dispelled the rumors that he’s giving up the portrayal of the character. During his Comic-Con appearance, Affleck told Entertainment Weekly that his “status” remains the same saying, “If the Bat phone rings, I will answer.”

Meanwhile, “Justice League” is scheduled to hit the theaters on Nov. 17. Chris Terrio wrote the script while Joss Whedon will oversee the completion of the movie after former director Zack Snyder decided to leave due to his daughter’s death in March.
