“Hawaii Five-0” will welcome a host of new faces for season 8, but fans can rest assured that some old favorites will slide into the frame as well. In fact, it won’t be long before the Oahu crew reconnects with a friend from across the pond. He might not be James Bond, but Chris Vance encapsulates the spy mystique as Harry Langford.

MI6 returns to ‘Hawaii Five-0’

Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and co.

returned to work as summer kicked into high gear, but his Five-0 team turned from an unstoppable force into a paltry shadow of its former self. As viewers reel from the unfortunate departure of Kono (Grace Park) and Chin (Daniel Dae Kim), an early season 8 episode will place the crew back on familiar footing.

Langford, who tapped the H50 brain trust in an effort to keep Europe from becoming a radioactive wasteland during last season’s “No ke ali'i wahine a me ka 'aina (For Queen and Country),” was recently spotted back in paradise. Show-runner Peter Lenkov took to Twitter to confirm Vance’s return as the CBS drama filmed episode 2 (airing order unconfirmed).

“He's baaaaaaaaaaack,” Lenkov teased.

Considering the series’ very public filming locales – the island has truly become its own character – Lenkov knows there’s little point in trying to keep the guest star under wraps. As it was, photos of Vance’s return had already hit the web days prior. You can check a few of them out below:

‘Hawaii Five-0’ cast shake-up

CBS waited to announce Park and Kim’s departure until principal photography was just days away, holding out hope that the actors would concede their fight for equal pay. Nevertheless, the “Hawaii Five-0” casting director was hard at work casting their replacements.

The “Hawaii Five-0” Ohana will welcome Meghan Rath as Tani Rey, a former Police Academy recruit who ended up as a lifeguard after cheating on a test and assaulting a superior, and Beulah Koale as Junior Reigns, a former Navy SEAL looking to repurpose his skills.

Meanwhile, the series promoted Ian Anthony Dale (Adam), Taylor Wily (Kamekona), Kimee Balmilero (Dr. Noelani Cunha) and Dennis Chun (Duke) to series regulars. Despite Kono’s departure, Adam will stay behind, stepping up to provide the task force with intel. Kono, meanwhile, will presumably continue her investigation into human trafficking on the mainland.

“Hawaii Five-0” will return to CBS in its regular Friday night timeslot on Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. ET.
