What do you get when you put Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish together in a movie? You get a lot of excitement, laughs and an enjoyable experience. "Girls Trip" opens in theaters on Friday, July 21. Even before it was released, the raunchy comedy had received positive reviews. It has been described as a must see movie for the summer.
About the comedy
The comedy follows four college friends who reunite for a good time at the Essence Festival in New Orleans. The longtime friends rekindle their sisterhood and rediscover they each have a wild side.
They party, dance, drink, hook up and simply have a good time together. They do wild things they would never think of doing if they were alone. Their friendship is renewed as they get in and out of trouble together. There are laughs throughout the 122-minute movie.
The film was completed on a $19 million budget and is projected to gross around $20 million when it opens in 2,583 theaters the first weekend. Movie experts say "Girls Trip" could debut as high as $30 million. Since the public like seeing the stars act separately, it will be even more enjoyable seeing them act together in the film that is set to be one of this summer's best comedies.
The four friends
For the last several weeks, the women have appeared together and separately on talk shows promoting the film.
The movie is so raunchy that Jada Pinkett Smith said she wouldn't give her 16-year-old daughter, Willow, permission to see the R-rated film. The 45-year-old actress is the wife of Will Smith and also the mother of 19-year-old Jaden Smith.
Most people are familiar with the long career of Queen Latifah. The 47-year-old actress, singer, songwriter, television and record producer, and former talk show host brings a lot of talent to "Girls Trip."
Regina Hall doesn't disappoint in the newly released movie.
The 46-year-old television actress and comedian display her talent along with her co-stars.
Tiffany Haddish is the one reviewers have said to look out for in the movie. They are calling the 37-year-old actress, comedian, and dancer the breakout star. Even her co-stars are praising her performance. She is the lesser known of the four women even though she has films and television roles to her credit. The public will likely see more of her after her performance in "Girls Trip."
For an enjoyable movie that will keep you laughing throughout, treat yourself to "Girls Trip."
