The "Game of Thrones" panel was definitely a highlight at San Diego Comic Con 2017. On Friday, the hit fantasy series came full force -- assembling its major cast members such as Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), John Bradley (Sam Tarly), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), and Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos). The show also had a surprise for its fans -- a brand new "weeks ahead" trailer bearing major clues for the current season.

'Game of Thrones' new trailer shows tension everywhere

The new "Game of Thrones" Season 7 trailer is a mix of previously teased footage and some new scenes pointing to the brewing wars ahead.

There's the fan-favorite feisty 9-year-old Lyanna Mormont, who tells Jon Snow that "winter is here," as if he needs more convincing on the matter.

However, the King in the North's allies debate whether or not to trust the Mother of Dragons, even if she has enough dragonglass to kill the White Walkers. Ser Davos Seaworth reminds Jon Snow that they must band together to win against the Night King. One thing seems to be sure to happen: Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen's much-awaited meeting.

We also see more of Littlefinger's attempts to sow doubt in Sansa's mind. "Everyone is your enemy. Everyone is your friend. Every possible series of events is happening all at once," he tells her.

In the south, there's Euron Greyjoy, who seems to have returned to King's Landing.

Does he have the "special present" he promised to get for Cersei Lannister in last week's episode?

Melisandre returns, teases Azor Ahai prophecy

The biggest reveal of the new "GoT" trailer is the return of Melisandre, a.k.a.

the Red Woman. She was banished from Winterfell at the end of last season and it seems she has found her way back to Dragonstone. Dragonstone was her former headquarters when she was still serving Stannis Baratheon. Now that Daenerys has reclaimed her birthplace, we see the two women facing each other for the first time.

"I believe you have a role to play, as does another,” Melisandre tells Daenerys by the end of the trailer.

"Game of Thrones" fans know that the Red Witch has previously hinted, although not directly, at the Azor Ahai prophecy. She believed Stannis was the one who was promised but regretfully realized that she misinterpreted what the Lord of Light showed her in the flames. When she was able to raise Jon Snow back from the dead in Season 6, she seemed to have thought of him as the savior reborn.

In George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels, Azor Ahai is referred to as the "Prince that was Promised." The legends tell of this messiah who saved the realms of men during the long night. The prophecy states that Azor Ahai will be born again, from smoke and salt, when the time comes.

With Daenerys coming into play, could she be Azor Ahai, the one who will save the world from darkness?
