The hype behind “Avengers: Infinity War” has gone up a notch, thanks mainly to the D23 Expo in Anaheim. While there were plenty of movies to expect moving forward, there is the Marvel blockbuster many are eager to see in May 2018.

There are plenty of solo stories to look forward to. Most saw what went down in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” with attention now shifting on “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Black Panther” before the Avengers assemble.

Most of them are expected back, including James Rhodes/ War Machine (Don Cheadle). His case is a bit curious since he was left paralyzed after the skirmish on “Captain America: Civil War.”

War Machine to fly once more

From that angle alone, it seems hard to imagine how Rhodes can get up and wear the War Machine suit once more. Someone else could fill in, but it seems Cheadle will continue to reprise the role.

Seeing how most heroes cannot be kept down in this comic book-backed film, Cheadle recently mentioned something about using something “fake” or “bionic” for the Avengers third installment. From the looks of it, he will turn to some form of technology that is similar to what James Barnes/ The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) had when he lost his arm.

There is a glaring difference between their cases though. Barnes lost an arm and inherited a metallic one to turn him into the character he was. Rhodes did show some small progress, thanks mostly to Starks Technologies for some mobility. However, it could hint at something more like maybe a chip similar to how Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickard) on "Arrow" was able to get up and make full use of his extremities.

Risky return for Rhodes

Using technology makes plenty of sense though it is likely to come with a loophole. In the case of Felicity, most saw how some electric-based interruption grounded her from being agile. The same argument may hold true for Rhodes unless the writers save that off for other Marvel films.

Either way, hearing War Machine back to help Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and company should be something. With a mad titan in Thanos (Josh Brolin) posing a serious threat, major characters from the famed Marvel comic book will play a vital role in foiling the villain’s evil intentions.

Aside from War Machine, there are plenty of twists that should be interesting to check out. One is how the divided Avengers will band for a common cause following “Captain America: Civil War.” Thor and Black Panther should render new spoilers so make sure to catch them – until the end of the movie credits.
