Adam Newman has been gone for too long, and with what is happening right now, it is about time he reappears from the dead on "The Young and the Restless." However, the soap has not revealed yet who would portray the character.

Who is the new Adam Newman?

"The Young and the Restless" spoilers tease that Adam's comeback is imminent, although there has been no confirmation yet about the actor who would play the role. The last actor who portrayed the character was Justin Hartley. Although the actor expressed his willingness to reprise his role when the time comes, it doesn't look like his current schedule would permit him.

Hartley is busy working on his primetime project "This Is Us," which has become a hit series already.

With Justin's unavailability, "The Young and the Restless" fans have been calling for the return of Michael Muhney. Michael previously played Adam Newman until he was controversially fired in 2013. Last month, Muhney tweeted that there was no return yet for him on the daytime soap, but added, "Who knows what the future holds?" He seems very open to the opportunity of coming back as Adam, and fans are hoping that the network would listen to the viewers' wish.

Adam's possible storyline

Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) are having a feud, and Victor needs Adam now more than ever.

Spoilers via Celeb Dirty Laundry reveal that Adam is coming back to Genoa City soon, and he might come in between his father and brother. The question would be whose side will he be on?

Adam has asked Nick to look after his family, but how would he react when he finds out that Nick has taken Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) for himself?

He might be enraged with that and side with his father to bring down Nick. On one hand, Adam might just be grateful that Nick took care of his family, and he might choose to be the referee between his father and his brother.

However, since Adam remains wanted for his past crimes, he needs his father's help. Spoilers tease if Adam would not help Victor with Nick, Victor might blackmail him into doing his bidding in exchange for his help to get Adam off the hook.

Other spoilers suggest that Adam's return will coincide with the revelation of who really killed Delia (Sophie Pollono). Chloe's (Elizabeth Hendrickson) days on "The Young and the Restless" are already numbered, but if she leaves before Adam returns, the character might reappear for a short stint to forgive Adam when she finds out he's been innocent all along.

Who would you like to play Adam Newman?

"The Young and the Restless" airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
