“Agents of Shield” season 4 came to a close, but that does not mean the series is done unleashing its best weapons yet. In fact, season 4 finale just introduced the viewers to a potentially more action packed and exciting fifth season. Since the finale, avid followers of the show are curious if the Framework, designed by Dr. Holden Radcliffe (John Hannah), can still be a hindrance to the SHIELD agents.
On one end, what Agents Phil, May, Mack, Fitz and director Jeffrey Mace have experienced inside the framework was terrifying. Radcliffe ended up being killed by his android assistant AIDA, giving her a chance to let Hydra rule over the artificial world.
AIDA’s desire to become a human made her vulnerable, resulting in decisions one could never imagine.
Framework almost killed SHIELD’s elite team
While the earlier mentioned Agents were trapped in the framework for a period of time, their memories slowly faded. Some of them worked as Hydra Agents and others have a happy little spark plug life . To make a long story short, all of them are the complete opposite of their real world persona.
Meanwhile, in their absence, bodies in the real world were replaced by Life Model Decoys. This is something that General Talbot could never understand. After all, the bodies are connected to a machine that would take them inside the Framework. Worst case scenario, if they die inside the artificial world, the same thing happens to them in the real world, which Jeffrey Mace encountered.
As for the last moment of the finale, viewers saw the SHIELD agents have been brought to a space territory. Will the Framework be left hanging on a thread?
Spinoff tackling the Framework to happen soon
Showrunner Jed Whedon explained fans may have seen the last of the Framework already in “Agents of SHIELD” season 4. However, according to Christian Post, Whedon hints the potential spinoff focusing on the said world alone.
Whedon said,"The Framework opened up a lot of ideas and a lot of possibilities, and our head of post keeps reminding us of that because he is the biggest fan of the Framework.” In addition, Whedon shared how his head believes Framework deserves its own spinoff show. Therefore, a reboot will not happen in the upcoming season.
Instead, Whedon is ready to explore new things, derive stories out of the original series.
