The Dc Extended Universe has not gotten off to a good start. The first three films released by Warner Bros have been disappointments for fans and critics. The future of the DC Film Universe looks like it may be in trouble. The studio lost several directors to different projects in the past few years.

Warner Bros. for some reason can’t agree with the creative direction that each director they hire is taking.

Warner Bros. has to be able to give their directors creative freedom. They have to be able to tell a story that stays true to the characters while putting their creative spin on it. The studio will be in big trouble if they don’t make these changes.

'Flash'

The DC film unverse will kick off 2018 with the Scarlet Speedster film starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash. Despite having the release date, Warner Bros. has not found a director to take charge. Both Seth Grathame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa departed the project because of creative differences. Both directors wrote a script for the film, but the studio decided to hire Joby Harold to do a page one rewrite of the film.

The film was originally supposed to be released in early 2018, which at the moment seems unlikely. "The Flash" film could be in jeopardy if they do not choose a director soon.

'The Batman'

Another film that Warner Bros. is going to have to delay is "The Batman." Ben Affleck was supposed to write and direct the film. He was going to star as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the new standalone film as well. Affleck decided to step down as director because he could not do what Warner Bros wanted him to do. The studio decided to hire Matt Reeves to take over the project.

The film was supposed to start filming in late 2017 and come out sometime in 2018. The film will be delayed because Reeves has to finish another film before he can start pre-production.

The movie will be not ready for a 2018 release, and will not likely hit theaters until 2019 or even 2020.

'Justice League Dark'

Warner Bros. has another film that is going to need a new director. Doug Liman has decided not continue as the director of the "Justice League Dark" film. The film, which was going to be called “Dark Universe," will now need to look for a new director. Liman is the latest director to leave a DC property. There is no news regarding who will be the next director or who Warner Bros. is targeting to take the helm.

The "Justice League" movie lost its director as well. Zack Syder stepped down to focus on his family after a tradgey happened. Joss Whedon will oversee the post-production of the film. Whedon will also write and direct additional scenes that will be filmed over the summer.
