The third season of “Supergirl” has added two people to their team with Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller being promoted as the superhero series’ new co-showrunners. According to Screen Rant, Rovner and Queller will be working with no other than the show’s co-creator Andrew Kreisberg. While the latter previously served as the co-executive producer, the former was the series’ consulting producer.
Both of them joined The CW series halfway through season 1. Following their promotion ahead of season 2, Rovner and Queller will join the elite team of Kreisberg, co-creator Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter as the executive producer.
Ali Adler exits 'Supergirl'
The earlier report revealed that the promotions came after the departure of co-creator and co-showrunner Ali Adler. Unfortunately, the “Supergirl” pioneer had signed an overall deal with CBS TV Studios in early 2017. Therefore, she had to leave for that network’s future projects.
On a brighter note, she is reportedly expected to remain as the show’s consultant. Prior to the announcement, Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller have proved time and time again how they will be a good addition as showrunners. They have been a part of the Melissa Benoist-led series’ recent success and with their promotions; there will be more opportunities to do that.
Aside from “Supergirl,” Queller has worked on several successful projects such as “Felicity,” “Gilmore Girls,” and “Gossip Girl.” Therefore, promoting her is obviously a wise decision for the series’ plot development in the future as her previous projects were dominated by females.
Rovner, on the other hand, was able to work on the “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff series entitled “Private Practice.” Having both talented behind-the-scene workers will heighten the standard of The CW series’ this upcoming season. Queller and Rovner will start overseeing the show’s production later this summer.
What is next for ‘Supergirl’ season 3
As we have previously reported, the season 2 finale showcased a heartbreaking end for the viewers. While Kara Danvers (Benoist) strove to balance everything – friend, family, and love life, she ended up losing Mon-El (Chris Wood), the man she cherishes the most. After defeating the alien invader Daxamites, Mon-El had to leave the planet earth.
Furthermore, a new villain is set to be introduced this season and fans are yet to find out if there is still a chance for Kara and Mon-El’s reunion. It seems like everything is up to Queller and Rovner now! Stay tuned for more updates about “Supergirl” season 3.
