This year has so far been a busy one for Girl's Day. On March 27, 2017, the popular girl group made their long-awaited K-pop comeback after a 21 month long hiatus. It was their seventh mini-album or extended play (EP) titled "Girl's Day Everyday #5" featuring the title track song "I'll Be Yours." It was a success in which the album peaked at number five on the Korean Gaon album chart and number seven on the U.S. Billboard World Albums chart.

Girl's Day was also announced to perform at the upcoming Korean content festival and concert KCON 2017 LA.

They will be performing along with SF9, Astro and NCT 127.

Despite their busy schedule, Girl's Day members have been pursuing more solo endeavors outside of being in a girl group. Sojin, the leader of the group, is pursuing a career in acting. And just recently, it was announced she will be acting the female lead in web drama "Humanitarian Supermarket."

Dream Tea Entertainment releases the news of Sojin's first female lead role

On June 9, 2017, Dream Tea Entertainment made an announcement that Park So Jin -- better known by her K-pop idol moniker Sojin -- would be playing her first female lead role in "Humanitarian Supermarket." She will play Yeon Hee, a top honors student who disguises her true self while working at a small business firm.

As of now, only minute details of the upcoming web drama have been made public. According to the drama's synopsis, "Humanitarian Supermarket" takes place inside of a mysterious supermarket. The plot will bring up issues that question society and humanity as a whole. No official release date has been confirmed but we do know it will launch on Naver's TV Cast sometime in mid-July.

This may be Sojin's first lead role but she has two K-dramas under her belt of experience

Usually, K-pop idols acting in both K-dramas and K-movies are given a bad rap especially if they are given a lead role without any prior experience. Case and point: Suzy of Miss A. Thankfully for Sojin, she is going into her lead role in "Humanitarian Supermarket" with two K-dramas under her belt of experience.

Back in 2014, Sojin played the supporting role of Lee Yuri in TV Chosun K-drama "The Greatest Marriage." One year later, she played another supporting role of Choi Dong Joo in the Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) K-drama "The Family is Coming."

Ultimately, it is good that Sojin is getting lead roles in K-dramas. She may be a part of one of the more popular K-pop girl groups in the industry presently, but they are in their seventh year which is notorious for being the time when K-pop acts often disband. Most likely, Girl's Day will not disband this year but they cannot last forever. Sojin will need to have something else in her career to depend on when disbanding eventually happens.
