A remake of the psychological science fiction horror "Flatliners" is set to be released in September 2017, 27 years after the release of the original film. Cast members include Nina Dobrev, best known for her role as Elena in "The Vampire Diaries", Ellen Paige and, Kiefer Sutherland, who was part of the original movie.

The trailer for the movie was released yesterday and it is full of terrifying snippets of what awaits viewers in theaters come September. The trailer begins with an air of mystery as character Courtney (Ellen Paige) leads unsuspecting Jamie to a basement.

Here she has all the medical equipment to carry out her dangerous experiment of exploring the afterlife. The trailer reveals snippets of places suggesting these might be memories or events that happen during death.

As Courtney continues with the experiment, she gains the interest of a group of medical students as she suddenly gains the ability to play the piano. In true competitive fashion they seek to out-do one another staying dead for longer and longer each time they die. As their flippant attitude towards death appears to grow, paranormal activities begin to surround them. Something appears to be coming for the students to enact some sort of punishment on them. The trailer ends with all the elements of a true horror as Courtney is dragged down a hall by some invisible force.

What can be expected in new 'Flatliners'

2017's "Flatliners" is set to be action packed, suspenseful and psychologically thrilling. The premise of the movie is that medical students played by Ellen Paige, Nina Dobrev, Diego Luna, James Norton and Kiersey Clemons are obsessed with the mysteries of what happens after death. In order to explore this they set out to stop their hearts for minutes at a time so that they can each explore the afterlife.

However, as the students continue with their endeavors sins from their past begin to plague them. The movie takes a turn as they begin to experience paranormal repercussions from their time spent on the other side. With a stellar cast of seasoned actors, "Flatliners" is set to be one of the best movies of 2017 as it delves into the mystery, and consequences, of playing with life and death.

Reviews for the original 1980's "Flatliners" movie were mixed however, it did receive a cult following. One can only hope that this remake will live up to fans expectations and make for a great watch.
