Recently, famous singer Miley Cyrus has been making the headlines again, but not for the reason you may think. While a few years ago, during the "Bangerz" era, Miley was known for sliding down hot dogs and being very outspoken about her pot smoking habits, nowadays, all signs point to Cyrus leading a cleaner and much happier life.

This past May, she opened up to Billboard magazine about her new outlook on life, "I'm not doing drugs, I'm not drinking, I'm completely clean right now. That was something I wanted to do." She also talked about finally knowing where she wants to be in life, wanting to get better and becoming a more open person, all of which lead her to hang around others who weren't stoned and to quitting the habit.

Miley explains why she doesn't want to get high anymore

Despite previously talking about being sober, it was just this past week that she decided to share the real reason that led her to quit smoking weed. It was during "The Tonight Show" with host Jimmy Fallon that Miley talked about a recurring nightmare she had. In it, she died from how much weed she was smoking. The scare from the dream made her quit, "I had this dream that I would die during my monologue on SNL. That I would get so stoned that I just died," she told Fallon.

She also shared that the nightmare led her to google if someone could die from that very same reason, and while the answer is no, she still decided to quit because she found out no one was smoking as much pot as she was, and she was afraid it would be dangerous.

Miley admitted as well to being high the last time she was on "The Tonight Show."

Cyrus also expressed that, because of how proud she is of her new music, she wants to be able to share her passion in a "clear and sharp way," which she explains she couldn't do as well during the days when she was smoking marijuana so often.

The 'Malibu' era

This past month Miley released her new single called "Malibu," a more romantic, acoustic and quiet approach to music than the one featured on her last album. Her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, described the track as "Miley leaning into her roots more. For her, this is honest."

The new song and video, both which have become a huge success among fans, are inspired by her relationship with actor Liam Hemsworth.

The couple has been dating on and off for the past few years, and several news outlets are reporting that they are engaged at the moment. The name "Malibu" is a reference to the place where they currently live together.

"Malibu" is the first track of the new album Cyrus will release later this year.
