Leaks and theories about the coming “Game of Thrones” Season 7 are now emerging here and there. Aside from the much-awaited reunion of the Stark siblings, there are also swirling rumors that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) romance is about to brew.
Now that the two Targaryens are about to meet and they are both on King’s Landing in the upcoming season, there are strong assumptions that a wedding will be seen. However, the 30-year-old star of the "Mother of Dragons" slammed this theory.
Clarke slams marriage assumptions
As the fan-made theory R+L=J has been confirmed to be true in “Game of Thrones” Season 6, the rumor mill has another assumption.
It has been said that Jon Snow and Daenerys are about to seal their Targaryen lineage with a wedding. In fact, a lot of the show’s supporters believe this to be true. But, in an interview with Emilia Clarke by Style Magazine, the English actress crashed the assumption, hinting this might not happen at all.
The filming of “Game of Thrones” Season 7 already wrapped up last January so the show’s stars now know what will happen in the epic fantasy series. With that, the “Me Before You” star has been asked if the Queen of Dragons will be romantically involved with anyone in the new chapter.
“I think that she has ultimately put aside her own need for a man,” Emilia Clarke said. She explained that Daenerys is too focused to lead and become the queen of the seven kingdoms. She is also putting her sole attention to fulfill her birthright as a Targaryen to have the iron throne. Thus, the idea of being with a man that will potentially lead to sharing the title she has been longing to have is not a good idea.
“Probably something she’s not comfortable with,” she explained.
Still a possible union
By the looks of it, Emilia Clarke just proves that no Targaryen union between Daenerys and Jon Snow is going to happen in “Game of Thrones” Season 7.
However, as the role of Kit Harington as the King in the North also has Targaryen blood, he also has the birthright to be the king of the seven kingdoms.
Unfortunately, the lineage of the 30-year-old star’s character might not be revealed in the upcoming seventh season. That too might stay hidden from the other characters for a short while.
Once Jon Snow’s real bloodline as a Targaryen has been announced, Daenerys might just accept that he also has the right to the iron throne. This is why the much-awaited union between the two might still happen, Movie Pilot reported.
