Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe shared palpable chemistry on-screen by portraying their roles as James and Claire, respectively in the historical fiction series “Outlander.” Fans are wondering if the on-screen couple are dating in real life.
The two stars of the famous romance time-travelling series based on Diana Gabaldon’s “Outlander” novel series were noted to be very friendly off-screen. In fact, they were reportedly very close to each other and oftentimes displayed their affection through interacting on social media.
Despite their closeness, Caitriona revealed they are not dating in real life saying that, as much as they would like to replicate Claire and Jamie’s love story, she thinks it would be very difficult for them to be together.
"We're not together," Caitriona previously shared in one interview in ET Online. "It's funny. We've always said from the get-go that we're incredibly great friends. And to have that friendship and that closeness and to be able to get along as we do on set, it's great that we're able to get along that well.”
Heughan also added that he was amazed how their fans wanted them to date for real. The actor even apologized to the fans because he and Caitriona are not dating and are just real good friends.
