Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have always been that one couple everyone is looking up to for their cordial relationship even after calling it quit last year. In fact, the "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" actors have managed to play their roles as parents of six children. But more than what we see in photos and magazines, these two are reportedly struggling to see any progress in their relationship after the separation.

Trying to be pleasant

According to Hollywood Life, Pitt and Jolie are trying hard to be "pleasant" around each other in front of their kids -- Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, Zahara, Vivienne, and Knox.

But despite their personal issues, the "Fight Club" alum makes it a point to hang out with the kids and spoil them with whatever they want. The insider said that the 53-year-old actor would sometimes spend a day with them cooking, playing around, doing arts, and even drive them around to show them his favorite buildings in Los Angeles.

Aside from seeing them regularly, Pitt and his kids reportedly go on therapy sessions together. “[Therapy has] allowed them to get a better sense of his issues and come to terms with what went wrong in their parents’ marriage. Brad has firmly but gently explained that no matter how much he loves their mother, they are not getting back together. He doesn’t want them to have any false hopes," the insider said.

The Hollywood actor also had the chance to celebrate Father's Day with his children even for a short period of time before they went on an out of town trip with Jolie a week ago.

What went wrong between Brad and Angie?

Jolie has said that they "fell in love" while filming "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" in 2004. Pitt was then married to Jennifer Aniston, while she just got off her marriage with Billy Bob Thornton.

The two became an item after they were spotted enjoying a vacation in Kenya a year later.

The "Maleficent" actress later confirmed that she is carrying her first biological child with Pitt. In 2008, the couple revealed that they are expecting twins who were reportedly given birth in France. Although things were going well for the pair and their family, the celebrity couple were not spared from the controversy which accused the actor of cheating on his wife.

But despite being a regular subject of rumors and scandals, Jolie and Pitt seemingly put an end to these issues when they finally tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2014. The two were like the epitome of a perfect married couple until the "Salt" star filed to divorce her then-husband on the grounds of "irreconcilable differences" in 2016.
