The Third Annual Greenwich International Film Festival, (GIFF) announced on May 4th their programming schedule of events for 2017.
Happenings at GIFF 2017
The publicist for the festival, Falco,Ink gave Blasting News insight in a press release– about the exciting events taking place at festival. The film, “Bending the Arc” will open the festival which runs June 1-4. It’s a documentary about a team of doctors and activists who save lives in a Haitian village 30 years ago. After the film, there will be a Q&A panel moderated by Barbara Pierce Bush and Ophelia Dahl (Partners in Health), writer/producer Cori Stern, Joia Mukherjee and Rifat Latifi M.D.
from Westchester Medical Center. The film is directed by Kief Davidson and Pedro Kos.
Flo Rida to kick off the opening party
Rap artist, Flo Rida will be performing at the opening night party on June 2, Sophia Bush will lead the Social Impact Jury and present the Best Social Impact Film Award that promotes social change and awareness. Live From Connecticut: Saturday Night Live will host a panel discussion moderated by Lorne Manley of The New York Times, and appearances by Changemaker Award Honorees, Christy Turlington Burns and Renee Zellweger who will be honored for their humanitarian efforts. Christy is being honored for her work with Every Mother Counts and Renee Zellweger is being honored for her extraordinary leadership and support for the search for a cure for ALS.
GIFF panel discussions
For sports fans, ESPN 30 FOR 30s Mike and Mad Dog screening which will be followed by a panel discussion with an insightful team of experts in the sports and entertainment world; featuring Connor Schell, Mark Teixeira, Kyle Martino and moderator Ryen Russillo, The Film Review: An Inside Look at the Responsibility of a Film Critic is a panel moderated by Joe Meyers of the Connecticut Post, and includes Alison Wilmore (Buzzfeed), Richard Lawson, (Vanity Fair) and Marshall Fine (General Manager, NYFCC).
Women Driving the ROI Panel in the Film Marketplace featuring Suzanne Farwell, (Producer of the films, ‘Carrie Pilby’, ‘It’s Complicated’, ‘The Intern’ and ‘Something’s Gotta Give’) and Susan Cartsonis, Producer (‘The DUFF’, ‘Where the Heart is’, ‘What Women Want’). This panel is moderated by Ruth Ann Harnisch (Lead Investor, Superlative Films, Executive Producer, 'The Hunting Ground', 'Unrest').
