The TV adaptation of Margaret Atwood novel, The Handmaid’s Tale, is coming to a screen near you this summer. A Hulu spokesperson reveals that the series will hit Australia via Sbs On Demand on July 6, 2017.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that the show deals with some disturbing themes, including women’s subjugation, so it’s not the right series for teenagers. Basically, “The Handmaid's Tale” explores the lives of women living in the new dystopian society called Gilead.

The main character, Offred, is one of the few fertile women in the world. Her masters create plenty of problems for Offred and other women.

“The Handmaid's Tale” is a popular American series created and co-written by Bruce Miller. The story is inspired by a novel of the same name by a Canadian author, Margaret Atwood. According to Inquistr, the story revolves around a young lady, Offred, who is captured and separated from her family.

The series debuted on April 26, 2017, with new episodes added on a weekly basis. On May 2, 2017, it was announced that Hulu had ordered two brand new seasons, which are set to premiere in 2018 and 2019.

The cast includes Elizabeth Moss, Max Minghella, Yvonne Strahovski, Joseph Fiennes, Ann Dowd, Alexis Bledel, and Samira Wiley.

Amanda Brugel, Tattiawna Jones, Jordana Blake, Ever Carradine, and Kristen Gutoskie play the supporting characters in this series. The most notable episodes are "Birth Day," "Offred," "Faithful," and "Late."

“The Handmaid's Tale” is a dystopian novel written by Margaret Atwood. It is set in a near-future England, exploring the lifestyle of working women. The book is divided into different chapters and short stories, including "The Merchant's Tale" and "The Parson's Tale."

It concludes with a metafictional chapter, explaining that the events took place after what is called "Gilead Period." Offred is a woman with lots of strengths and powers.

She looks for a reasonable job and tries to rebuild her life in the city, but the road to success is full of hardships.

Filming took place in Istanbul, Toronto, and New York City from October 2016 to January 2017. The first full-length teaser trailer was released on YouTube on March 20, 2017. The first season of “The Handmaid's Tale” received positive comments from television critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, its average score is 7 out of 10 based on 21 reviews. On Metacritic, the show’s rating is 98 out of 100 based on 12 critics.
