Ronda Rousey is the first American woman to win an Olympic bronze medal in judo, which really left a mark in the history of Women's mixed martial arts. Rousey’s 12 straight wins in the UFC made her famous.
Ronda Rousey even ventured into movies such as “Furious 7” with the help of her popularity in UFC. Unfortunately, everything started to crash after her first defeat from Holly Holm at the UFC 193 game.
Just like other athletes, the first loss came as a shock for Ronda Rousey. Rousey did not see it coming at all. Fortunately, she still pushed herself to train more and prepare for the next fight.
Is Ronda Rousey gives up her throne?
Amanda Nunes defeated Rousey at the UFC 207 which is her second loss. Because of this, many fans speculate that Rousey’s career will be ending soon. New reports are now making rounds that Rousey will be retiring in November.
Apparently, she is reportedly ready to surrender her belt and just focus on her personal life. New reports claimed that she has been busy in preparing her wedding. However, Rousey is yet to confirm the reports.
Meanwhile, the retirement decision of Rousey is reportedly supported by Dana White, the UFC President. White attests that Rousey is already done with fighting UFC players in the ring. He also explained that she has nothing to lose since she has always done her best.
As per White, Rousey already made a name in the UFC game and she has already left a mark in the UFC history. There is no doubt that she is respected by the fans despite her losses. As per new reports, she might be taking on a new journey in life, particularly starting a family. Whatever it is, the UFC President supports her all the way.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk takes Rousey’s place in the UFC ring
After the sad news of Rousey’s retirement, a new UFC fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk is making waves now in the UFC. She is reportedly two wins away from beating Rousey’s record. Aside from soaring high in the flyweight division, Jedrzejczyk also have plans to fight in the straw weight division.
If the reports are true, this makes her a Ronda Rousey protégé and Jedrzejczyk can also be the woman version of the famous and successful UFC fighter, Conor McGregor. Jedrzejczyk can be the second UFC fighter to simultaneously hold two titles in two different weight classes.
Needless to say, Joanna Jedrzejczyk is a very good UFC fighter to watch out for. Ronda Rousey may finally retire, but at least another good one will stay.
