The plot thickens as the first season of "Riverdale" ended with a dramatic cliffhanger. In the season finale, fans witnessed a heartbreaking scene as Fred Andrews portrayed by Luke Perry was shot by an intruder. It appears that Fred died in the arms of his son Archie at Pop's diner.

EW has sat down with "Riverdale's" executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The interesting conversation bared more about the upcoming season of the series. When asked if Fred Andrews is really dead, the executive producer said that fans will definitely see him in the Season 2 premiere.

Sacasa also revealed juicy details about Hiram Lodge and his role in season 2. Hiram will be portrayed by Michael Consuelos and will be introduced as an enigmatic and good-looking man who resembles Michael Corleone. His arrival in the series will create a brief confusion among the characters as they would not know what to make of him and what his character is really up to.

The EP added that Hiram will definitely play a big part in the upcoming season. Another revelation that the series' fans should look forward to is the possible triangulation between Archie, Veronica, and Hiram. Moreover, he said that most part of the upcoming season will revolve around these characters.

When asked about the possibility of meeting Betty's secret brother, Sacasa said that there is a possibility.

According to him, what will most likely happen is for Alice's mysterious son to show up at "Riverdale" or for Betty to look for him. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also shed some light on the issue of dark Betty. He said that it will grow on season 2 since Betty has been trying to contain her dark side in the first season. Moreover, the executive producer also revealed that there is a great chance that fans will get to see Jughead's mother and sister in the next season of the series.
