20th Century Fox has reportedly signed on two new actors for their upcoming "New Mutants" movie, which will be a spin-off of the company's "X-Men" film series. According to the latest reports, Fox has signed on Maisie Williams, for her role as Arya Stark in "Game of Thrones," and "Split" actress Anya Taylor-Joy as part of the main cast for the new movie.

The next generation

Seeing as that there have already been a number of movies based on the "X-Men" franchise, Fox likely wants to inject some fresh new faces into the mix with the introduction of new mutants that live in the same universe.

Most of the actors and characters in the series have already been featured in several movies and solo films, which means that further expanding them would likely not work well for some audiences.

Brand new superheroes

In the upcoming movie, Fox will be introducing several new mutants, including Warlock, Magic, Moonstar, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, and Sunspot. Williams has been confirmed to play the role of Wolfsbane, who is a mutant that is basically able to turn into a wolf and a werewolf. She is described to be a religious person who is troubled by her abilities as it goes against her beliefs.

Meanwhile, Taylor-Joy will be playing the role of Magik. The mutant, whose real name is Illyana Nikolievna Rasputin, is the Younger Sister of Peter Rasputin, a.k.a.

The Colossus. She has the power to create teleportation disk to travel anywhere in space in an instant, which is similar to Nightcrawler's abilities. The sword-wielding mutant is also adept at using magic just like Dr. Strange.

A different kind of movie

Unlike the original "X-Men" movies, which were focused on superhero action and adventure, the upcoming "New Mutants" movie will reportedly be a "teen horror movie." This, of course, corroborates the statements made by "X-Men" producer Simon Kinberg who mentioned that the upcoming movie will have a "unique original voice."

The upcoming movie is also rumored to star "The Fault in our Stars" actor Nat Wolff, who will also be playing a role in the upcoming anime live-action movie "Death Note" next year.

"New Mutants" is expected to start production in July with Josh Boone directing. The film will be roughly based on the comic book series of the same name that was originally released back in 1982. Aside from the upcoming movie, Fox is also slated to release another Marvel-based movie this year, which is believed to be "Deadpool 2."
