ABC has already released two Marvel properties as TV shows with "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the two short "Marvel's Agent Carter" seasons. Up next, is "Inhumans," a show that was originally supposed to be a Marvel movie and is now based on the long-running Inhumans storyline in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." However, this TV Show will be based on the actual Inhumans from the comic books and Entertainment Weekly recently showed images from the upcoming show along with a lot of news about the actual Royal Family itself, most specifically about their king Black Bolt.
Difference Between "Inhumans" and "S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." changed things pretty dramatically for The Inhumans. On that TV series, the Inhumans was just another name for what most people know as Mutants, although there were changes to bring it more in line with their Marvel comic book counterparts. The Terrigen Mist, which is important when it comes to supplying powers to the Inhumans was used but most of the characters on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." were humans who were transformed with the mists. However, as with the Marvel Comics team, "Inhumans" is about the Royal Family of Attilan.
Black Bolt of The Inhumans
The King of the "Inhumans" is Black Bolt, someone that was going to be hard to bring to the small screen.
He leads the team but he can't talk because his power comes from speaking, as his words can bring down mountains and a scream can destroy the world. To communicate with others, he will use sign language, but according to Anson Mount who plays Black Bolt, he can't use American sign language because he is not from Earth and he has his own version.
That likely will make communicating difficult because Black Bolt and the Royal Family are thrust out of Attilan and to Hawaii where the Inhumans must regroup.
The synopsis of "Inhumans"
Much like the Marvel series that the "Inhumans" TV show is based on, there is strong political intrigue the brother of Black Bolt, Maximus, overthrows his brother and takes over the rule of Attilan.
Black Bolt and the Royal Family and up in Hawaii where they need to interact with the humans will help save the entire Earth. Other comic characters include the Queen Medusa, Karnak, Gorgon, Crystal, Triton, and Lockjaw. There is also word that the world of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will play into things since the two shows are in the same world but unlike the Mutant-styled Inhumans from that show, this series will present the real thing.
