Liam Payne is currently working on the release of his first solo single, and during a recent interview, he was brutally honest about Styles' debut song, "Sign of the Times." Fans of Styles are not very happy about what Payne said.
'It's not my sort of music.'
Payne had a chat with Music Choice about his music and was asked to comment about his former bandmates' solo career. He had good things to say about Horan's "Slow Hands," saying that he thinks his music is cool. But he changed to a different tune when asked about Styles' song.
The 23-year-old Payne said that "Sign of the Times" is not his type of music. He clarified, though, saying that Styles did a good job with what he wanted to do, but his song is just more of a different era to something that he would listen to. However, he said that Styles would say the same thing about him because he does not listen to hip-hop music, and Payne's genre is more like "Rack City" by Tyga.
Writing the album is like therapy, Styles said
Payne's style, just like what he said, is leaning towards the hip-hop style, while Styles' is mostly old-school, and some critics say that it's just like David Bowie's music. Although Payne may not be a fan of his former One D bandmate's music, Styles think that doing his album is like therapy for him.
During an interview with USA Today, he said that the album is working out what he wanted it to be.
Critics say that Styles' album is a rock album made in 2017. It has ten songs, and it has received mostly positive reviews. The album got a rating of 69 out of 100 on Metacritic. Payne's "Strip That Down" is co-written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac, but there is no specific date yet as to when it will be released.
Many say that Sheeran and Payne are long-time friends, and their collaboration came out quickly early this year.
Some source says that Liam Payne's album is going to be a mix between Justin Bieber and Drake. Payne is said to be already working with a lot of producers and artists. There are even talks that he is going to collaborate with Little Mix. It can be noted that Payne is the last One Direction member to go solo.
