From Katniss Everdeen to Raven/Mystique, actress Jennifer Lawrence has established a rep for playing some really strong characters who, when push comes to shove, will not take much attitude from anybody. Perhaps the one reason she’s so natural in these roles is because they draw from her own personality. Lawrence has had past experience with navigating through situations that can trigger some backlash.

She can be prudent, as when she apologized for an anecdote she shared about filming “The Hunger Games” at a sacred site in Hawaii that was deemed disrespectful by native Hawaiians. But, there are also times when she lets loose regardless of the cameras and the spotlight on her as well.

‘Stripper’ Jennifer

Infamous tabloid National Enquirer broke the news on their Radar news website on Wednesday, May 17 that Jennifer Lawrence was caught on video at a strip club in the Austrian capital, doing a pole dance onstage. They termed their video, dated April 27, a “bombshell world exclusive." Footage depicted a woman crawling on all fours on the Vienna bar’s stage, then dancing on the stripper pole, and even taking her top off, to the delight of male patrons.

The video could not definitively identify the woman as Lawrence, but the accompanying article on Radar said it was her. Describing the 26-year-old Academy Award-winning actress as some wholesome “America’s sweetheart," the tabloid described her "like a low-rent go-go dancer in a Euro-trash strip club."

Vienna, where the action took place, is where Lawrence’s next movie (“Red Sparrow," a Cold War period thriller) is being filmed.

Not sorry

Jennifer Lawrence isn’t taking anything lying down. With the same defiant spirit she put into her role as Katniss in the “Hunger Games” films, she wrote a Facebook post confirming her identity in the exposé, but said that she feels no shame or embarrassment over her actions.

"Look: Nobody wants to be reminded that they tried to dance on a stripper pole by the internet,” Lawrence’s post went. “It was one of my best friend's birthdays and I dropped my paranoia guard for one second to have fun. I'm not going to apologize, I had a BLAST that night." As a parting shot she added, "That's not a bra it's an Alexander Wang top and I'm not gonna lie, I think my dancing's pretty good. Even with no core strength."

Twitter was filled with supportive posts for the sassiness of Lawrence, whose last film -- “Passengers” with Chris Pratt -- performed decently at the box office despite middling reviews.
