Fans of NBC's "The Voice" will see a new coach in the upcoming season and it is none other than American singer Jennifer Hudson.

Details about the coaches of "The Voice" season 13

The official Twitter account of the show tweeted this news just a couple of hours ago and confirmed that Hudson will be joining Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Miley Cyrus in season 13 of "The Voice", whereas 43-year-old American television host, radio personality and producer Carson Daly will be returning as the host for the show.

Jennifer Hudson will be replacing 36-year-old singer Alicia Keys who has been on the show for two consecutive seasons whereas 24-year-old Miley Cyrus is returning to replace 47-year-old "Rich Girl" Gwen Stefani.

Later on, Jennifer Hudson who rose to fame after being a finalist on "American Idol" season 3 also took to her Twitter account to confirm the news of her joining the show in fall this year.

The President of Alternative and Reality Group at NBC Entertainment Mr. Paul Telegdy praised the 35-year-old singer saying that she is an extraordinary singer and actress and has exactly the kind of experience that is the requirement of the show making her "an incredible addition and a natural fit for our show." Jennifer is also a successful actress and has won an Academy Award for the 2006 movie adaption of the popular Broadway musical "Dreamgirls."

Hudson has previously appeared as a coach on the UK version of the same show just in the start of this year and ended up winning the first season on the sixth series.

Previous coaches at "The Voice"

Over the years "The Voice" has seen a variety of popular singers on the revolving seats of the coaches including 42-year-old CeeLo Green, 36-year-old Christina Aguilera, 40-year-old Shakira, 38-year-old Usher and 44-year-old Pharrell Williams.

The show which was previously called "The Voice of America" was first aired on television on April 26th, 2011 and is an adoption of a Dutch television show by the name of "The Voice of Holland." The winners of the NBC show get a prize money of US $100,000 and a record deal with Universal Music Group.

Hudson's music and film career

Up until now, Jennifer Hudson has released three studio music albums "Jennifer Hudson" in 2008, "I Remember Me" in 2011 and the most recent one "JHUD" in 2014. The internationally acclaimed singer also received a star on the Hollywood "Walk of Fame" in the year 2013 and has worked in several movies including "Sex and the City", "Winnie Mandela" and "Black Nativity" among others.
