The filmmaker, Jordan Peele, has announced to move forward with his new project. He took it to Twitter yesterday to confirm that an original thriller is in pre-production.
Peele was in the headlines after the success of television show, “Key & Peele,” and horror film, “Get Out.” It’s now time to look forward to his next movie. The director says that the name of the new project has not been finalized. However, it will be developed with an estimated budget of $170 million.
‘Get Out’ – the film
“Get Out” is an American comedy directed, written, and co-produced by Jordan Peele.
The cast includes Daniel Kaluuya, Lil Rel Howery, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Stephen Root, Caleb Landry, and Catherine Keener. In January 2017, the film was screened for a prize at Sundance Film Festival and theoretically released on February 24, 2017, by Universal Pictures. It has grossed more than $190 million at the box office, against $4.5 million budget.
The story revolves around a young man, Andre, who meets his childhood friend, Chris, and ex-girlfriend, Rose, after a long time. The three friends plan a weekend trip to Mississippi, but Chris is worried about Rose as she did not tell her parents about the travel. One night, he asks the lady inform her parents, but she refuses. Meanwhile, they come to know that Rose’s mother has died in a car accident.

As “Get Out” was the directorial debut of Peele, the filmmaker had high expectations, but it did not do good business at the box office. The movie was entirely shot in Alabama. In the first week of April, “Get Out” was named the top-earning film by a black filmmaker, beating out Gary’s blockbuster “Straight Outta Compton,” which earned only $160 million at the box office.

In North America, the film was released in the last week of February, alongside “Rock Dog,” and “Collide.” It was expected to gross $30 million from 2,454 theaters in the opening weekend.
But the film earned $10 million on its first day, becoming the highest-grossing movie of the month. On Rotten Tomatoes, “Get Out” has an approved rating of 985 based on 243 critics. On Metacritic, it scored 86 out of 100 based on 49 critics.
