BTS bags Top Social Artist award
Voting lines for the Top Social Artist award were opened on May 1, and since then, fans of the popular K-pop boy group have been using the hashtag #BTSBBMAS to show their love and support to their idols. The said hashtag has been tweeted over 300 million times since the table was opened for voting.
Rap Monster led the group in accepting the award onstage wherein he thanked the ARMYs for making a dream come true.
The BTS leader even admitted they could not believe that they would become the first K-pop act to win a recognition from the annual music event.
"It is so great to see all the artists we admire, and we feel honored to be in this category with all these great artists right in front of us," he said. "Most importantly, this award belongs to every people all around the world that shine the love and light on us by the million and make BTS proud."
The BTS member did not forget to remind the fans to know their self-worth.
"Please, ARMY, remember what we say: Love myself, love yourself," Rap Monster ended his speech.
He also thanked the fans in Korean before he show his gratitude to Billboard for the opportunity. BTS officially becomes the first K-pop group and the second Korean artist to win an award at the Billboard Music Awards. The first artist from Korea to be recognized in the prestigious event was Psy who won the Top Streaming Song award for hit track "Gangnam Style" back in 2013.
BTS recently brought their "Wings Tour" in North America. About 60,000 concertgoers witnessed their performances in Newark, Chicago and Anaheim from March 23 until April 2. After their attendance at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, the seven members will head to Australia for a show on May 26.
