In his recent interview with GQ Style, 53-year-old actor and producer Brad Pitt disclosed that he has given up drinking and is undergoing therapy to get through with his high-profile divorce from former wife, 41-year-old actress Angelina Jolie.
This is the first interview of the Academy Award winning actor since his split with Jolie. Pitt said that he loves therapy sessions and that he went to two therapists before finally deciding upon one of them.
The "Curious Case of Benjamin Button" star confessed to the use of marijuana and heavy drinking in the previous years and admitted that his drinking habits led to his separation from Angelina Jolie.
More on his divorce with Jolie
Angelina Jolie married Brad Pitt in 2014. The two have been together since first meeting on the sets of their first movie together "Mr and Mrs Smith" in 2005. Last year, the "Tomb Raider" actress announced that she was filing for a divorce from her husband of two years. This happened just five days after a rumored brawl between Pitt and the couple's 15-year-old son Maddox. Pitt later faced an inquiry from the FBI following alleged child abuse allegations. The charges were later removed.
Following their split, the couple is now involved in a child custody battle. However, while addressing his divorce with the A-list actress, Brad said that the two of them have agreed that they will try to solve all the issues between them in an amicable way.
Life after the split
Pitt also admitted that since his split, he has been finding comfort in creative activities and is using different material for this purpose, such as clay and wood. He also admitted that he did not stop with his excessive drinking habits even when he had his children with Jolie, but now he prefers fizzy water and cranberry juice instead of alcohol.
The now single Hollywood actor posed for photos in the GQ Style Magazine, this being his first photo shoot since his separation from Angelina.
The 53-year-old actor who shares six children with ex-wife Angelina also surprised his fans with sudden weight loss when he made an appearance at the premiere of the movie "The Lost city of Z" in April. His weight loss is not due to the drama in his personal life. There are multiple reports that Pitt has been spending time in the gym.
