For the first time, Brad Pitt talked about his high-profile divorce from Angelina Jolie that, actually, shook the world. Although the divorce rumors have been surrounding the two since time immemorial, no one thought that it would happen.
As the 53-year-old star graced the cover of GQ Style, he narrated what went wrong to their relationship. He also admitted that he was a heavy drinker and pot smoker before that resulted for him to cut himself emotionally from other people.
Pitt admits to drinking too much
In an extensive interview with the mentioned publication, the A-list actor revealed that he already quitted drinking and, in fact, undergoing therapy.
“I just started therapy. I love it. I love it. I went through two therapists to get to the right one,” he said.
He even recalled if there were any day when he went out of college that he wasn’t drinking or puffing weeds. Although it was the dark side of his life, he was now happy that he was done doing all of that stuff. However, he did acknowledge that he was still boozing since he started his family and had been drinking too much.
Amicable ex-couple
Divorce wise, the actor-producer said that he and Jolie promised that they would be cordially and privately resolving their issues. He even considered their divorce as a “huge generator for change.” The ex-couple now chose to avoid the “vitriolic hatred” and just peacefully work together to fix their problems legally.
He now keeps himself busy by working with his own hands and masterpiece with the use of clay, plasters, rebar, and wood. With that, he doesn’t consider himself now as an actor as it doesn’t get much of his attention anymore. He now doesn’t feel like it is still helping him to forget his problems, especially now that he is already a father.
The high-profile divorce
To recall, the “Maleficent” star announced her divorce from the “Allied” actor in September 2016. They got married in 2014 and had six children; Maddox Chivan (15), Pax Thien (13), Zahara Marley (12), Shiloh Nouvel (10), and Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon (8). They have been in a child custody battle that even led for Pitt to be investigated for child abuse after he lost his temper on a flight with them.
However, he was later cleared of all the allegations and even decided to fix their legal woes privately with the help of a private lawyer. Although he was mad of what happened, he never blamed Jolie that all the accusations for him. He even took the blame for the split of Brangelina and what happened to him as self-inflicted.
