At one point, the storyline in "13 Reasons Why" was just going to be a one-off. Each season would take on a new story and a new set of characters. There were plans to create an "American Horror Story" or "True Detective" world for fans of the Netflix original. However, fans have now learned that isn't the case anymore. Those annoyed at all the unanswered questions in the season 1 finale won't have to look back and hope there will be answers.

"13 Reasons Why" is definitely going to continue with the current set of characters. While there will be a new narrator, the story will show the aftermath.

Brian Yorkey admits that showing the aftermath was important, as well as sharing some of the answers to the questions left open.

Selena Gomez confirms the focus for season 2

Those still worried about not getting answers only have to look at Selena Gomez's most recent interview to determine the truth. She shared that season 2 would focus on some of the questions that have been left unanswered. While she didn't say exactly which questions would be answered, she hinted that there would be enough to make fans happy.

Gomez, who is an executive producer on the show, confirmed that "13 Reasons Why" will look into the teenagers after finding out all the details from the first season. This is a chance to see how they will all move on from their traumatic experiences.

It's too easy to focus just on the events that happened. The viewers need to know how the characters coped or what they did after facing such trauma.

Jessica's story is most important in '13 Reasons Why'

One of the main focuses in season 2 will be Jessica's story. For those who don't remember names that well, this was the character raped in the first season.

Her rapist is still out there and a student at her school. As the narrator, she will be able to tell the audience what she thinks and feels while she goes through her life knowing her rapist is in another hall.

There are hints that her rapist will be brought to justice. This will be traumatic in itself, as Jessica will need to relive her worst nightmare.

She will need to testify and face her rapist in person again. We nearly didn't get any of this, but the writers are focusing on a deep storyline that is just as harrowing and emotional as one from the first season.

"13 Reasons Why" season 1 is still available on Netflix. Season 2 will be released sometime in 2018. The production work hasn't started on it yet, as the writers are still creating the scripts.
