Marvel just dropped a big surprise for fans as they have now officially unveiled the premiere date for their highly anticipated new crossover television miniseries, "Marvel's The Defenders." The series itself will be seeing the coming together of the different Marvel superheroes that have been featured in their Netflix television shows, namely "Iron Fist," "Jessica Jones," "Daredevil," and "Luke Cage."
'The Defenders' teaser trailer
Along with the release date announcement for "The Defenders," Marvel also released a short sixteen-second Teaser Trailer that featured the members of the team inside an elevator.
Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox, Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, Iron Fist, played by Finn Jones, and Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, are all seen inside an elevator.
The superheroes look like they are the worse for wear and have just come from fighting off some tough opponents. At the end of the video, Jessica Jones notices the camera and then smashes it.
Sixteen seconds worth of Easter eggs
The camera feed on in the trailer clearly showed the name “Midland Circle Security Elevator B." The company will be familiar to fans as it was actually featured in "Daredevil" season 2. The timestamp after Jones had killed the feed also read 08:18:20:17, which is actually the announced release date for "The Defenders," August 18, 2017.
On the top left of the camera feed, an IP address is also prominently shown. When typed into a browser's address bar, the URL then redirects to a New York Bulletin website that shows a number of headlines related to the different Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series. The website also features a mock interview of the CEOs of Rand Enterprises, Ward and Joy Meachum, played by Tom Pelphrey and Jessica Stroup, respectively.
Other characters appearing in the crossover
A number of character from the different MCU shows have already been confirmed to be appearing in "The Defenders." The characters include Jeri Hogarth, played by Carrie-Anne Moss from "Jessica Jones," Foggy Nelson, played by Elden Henson from "Daredevil," and Misty Knight, played by Simone Missick from "Luke Cage." The main antagonist in the upcoming crossover series, Alexandra, was also revealed to be played by veteran actress Sigourney Weaver.
