The second trailer for “The Mummy” reboot was released a few days ago, and we finally get an idea of who exactly the mummy is and what's her mission. The trailer also glimpses at the character of Tom Cruise. The first trailer for this movie was released online about two months ago. It depicted Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) trying to discover the tomb of the mummy. He struggles to run away from the enemy gunfire. There, Jenny (Annabelle Willis) points out the truths about Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella). Ahmanet is an ill-looking woman who wants to become the queen of Egypt.
The thirst for power leads her downfall.
From the two teaser trailers, the film looks very cool. Tom Cruise's costume, makeup, and overall body language are impressive.
The release date of ‘The Mummy.'
“The Mummy” is one of the most anticipated films of 2017. It will swing into theaters on June 9, 2017. This project is directed by Alex Kurtzman and scripted by Jon Spaihts. Christopher McQuarrie has penned the dialogues of this movie. It is a reboot of “The Mummy” franchise, and the first installment in the Universal Monsters shared the universe. In addition to Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella, the film has Jake Johnson, Annabelle Wallis, Russel Crowe and Courtney B. Vance in the leading roles. The movie opens with the scene of Princess Ahmanet who is buried alive beneath the sand of Egypt.
Years after, her tomb gets discovered by Cruise. She has now grown over millennia and terrors that will defy the humans.
Plans for a reboot
Universal Studios first announced plans for the reboot in 2012. Filming was slightly delayed as the project went through multiple directors. Len Wiseman left the project in 2013, and then it was shifted to Andrés Muschietti.
Andres could not continue after 2014, and finally, Alex Kurtzman was recruited to direct “The Mummy.” The filmmaker chose Sofia Boutella for the lead role after seeing her performance in “Kingsman: The Secret Service.” The actress won dozens of awards for this particular project.
A few months ago, IMAX released the first trailer with the wrong audio track attached.
Later on, it was replaced with a brand new teaser trailer of twenty seconds. The new trailer for “The Mummy” has been viewed thousands of times. It gives glimpses that Princess Ahmanet is entering the modern world after a blunder by Nick Morton.
The original “Mummy” film was released in 1999, followed by “The Mummy Returns” in 2001. Both of the projects did very good business at the box office. In 2002, a spin-off saw Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the leading role.
