Freeform is ramping up its 2018 primetime schedule with the release of new teaser trailers for two brand new TV shows. “Switched at Birth” and “Pretty Little Liars” are finishing their runs, and “The Bold Type” and “Cloak & Dagger” will soon premiere. The network is known for its cutting-edge programs with a twist which appeals the youngster.
Every year, news trends are introduced among TV shows and movies. First, there was a trend of making shows with zombies and vampires. Then the networks started premiering romantic series and morning shows. It was originally founded as the CBN Satellite Service, but the network changed its name several times.
The current name was given by Disney–ABC Television Group in October 2015, but the network officially adopted the new name in January 2016.
‘The Bold Type’
“The Bold Type” is an upcoming TV series developed by Sarah Watson. The story is inspired by the life of the former Cosmopolitan editor, Joanna Coles. Freeform ordered the show in January 2017, and it will premiere this July. The story revolves around Jane, Sutton, and Kat.
The show will explore their lifestyles in New York City. During their stay in the US, the three friends learn how to find their identities. Katie Stevens plays Jane, Aisha Dee appears as Kat, while Meghann Fahy portrays Sutton. Sam Page and Melora Hardin are also in the cast.
‘Cloak & Dagger.'
Marvel's project “Cloak & Dagger” is in the final works. This upcoming American series has been created by Joe Pokaski and will premiere on Freeform. The story is inspired by the Marvel Comics characters of the same name. The series has been financed by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios. The leading roles are played by Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt.
The two portray Tyron and Tandy, respectively.
Freeform ordered “Cloak $ Dagger” in April 2016, and Pokaski was on board as showrunner. The 10-episode series will be aired next year. Tandy and Tyrone are two teenage friends with different backgrounds. They acquire supernatural power and realize that the powers work only when they’re together.
Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, and James Saito are on board to play supporting roles.
Freeform is a popular basic cable and satellite television channel in the US. It is owned by the Disney–ABC Television Group and consists of numerous television series and movies geared towards youngsters. Some of its programs tell stories of working women, while others revolve around teenagers. The channel was launched in 1977, and since then, it has undergone numerous changes to on-air identity.
