James Cameron has announced the release dates for the sequels to "Avatar," the highest grossing movie of 2009. There were several delays about the release of the second installment of the movie, which has no official title yet. The announcement was made on April 22 on the movie's official Facebook page, with Cameron stating that it is great to be working with the best team.
Release date schedule
On December 18, 2020, the second installment of "Avatar" will be released in theaters. A year later, on December 17, 2021, the third installment will be released.
After three years, the fourth movie sequel will be released on December 20, 2024. The fifth sequel will be released on December 19, 2025.
Multiple delays
The team previously set a date for "Avatar 2" but it was delayed. Originally, it was scheduled to be released in 2014. It was later moved to 2016, and finally in 2018. It is not surprising when Cameron made the announcement today that it will not happen until next year.

The filming of the second sequel is slated to commence in August. The cast has already started training for the highly anticipated sequel. Sigourney Weaver previously revealed that the filming will begin in the later part of 2017. The production of the four sequels according to Cameron will be simultaneous.
