Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai's father, Krishnaraj breathed his last on March 19, 2017, in Mumbai.

According to reports, Aishwarya's Dad had Cancer for which he was admitted to Lilavati Hospital three weeks back. Krishnaraj's condition worsened last week, and he was shifted to the ICU Unit. On Sunday morning, his health condition deteriorated again, and the doctors couldn't save him.

The cremation ceremony took place at the Vile Parle on Sunday evening. Many celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, billionaire Anil Ambani, Simi Garewal and many others attended the funeral.

Lilavati Hospital officials confirmed the news

The Lilavati Hospital officials confirmed the news of Krishnaraj's death. They issued a press release confirming the death of Aishwarya's father on Sunday early morning.

"He had lymphoma cancer which spread to his brain. Today somewhere around 4:00 p.m. he passed away. He was admitted three weeks back", said a Lilavati Hospital official as per a report which was published on Catch News.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan wrote an emotional note after the demise of Krishnaraj.

He wrote on his Twitter account, "Death has but one end, and words cannot define it."

Krishnaraj was Aishwarya Rai's mentor and guide

Krishnaraj Rai was an Army biologist who has previously worked for the Indian Army.

In many interviews, Aishwarya Rai has revealed that the motivation given by her father helped her to climb the stairs of glory. Last year, she told that Krishnaraj had acted as a mentor in her personal life, which made her shape the career.

Aishwarya Rai, in her twenty-year-long career, has appeared in some noted Hollywood movies like "Bride and Prejudice", "Provoked", "The Last Legion", and "The Pink Panther 2".

The 43-year-old actress was last seen in the movie "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" which featured her opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. Directed by Karan Johar, this movie collected more than Rs 200 Crores from the box-office and was declared a blockbuster.
