In 24 seasons of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," there have been five new mothers on the show. Some of them joined the cast within weeks after giving birth. Needless to say, the new moms had more challenges than those who didn't have new babies to attend to.

This season's new mom

Peta Murgatroyd gave birth to son, Shai, on January 4, 2017. She is partnered with the former "The Bachelor" star, Nick Viall. The 30-year-old professional dancer is returning after having given birth just 10 weeks ago. She admits it's going to be a balancing act. She is grateful that ABC and "Dancing With The Stars" are allowing her and her fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy to have flexible schedules while they both are on the show this season.

Peta says the good thing about going back on the dance floor so soon after giving birth is to get her abs back. Peta and Nyle DiMarco took home the mirrorball trophy the last time she competed during Season 22. She said she is back this season to defend her title.

Other new moms

Terra Jolé competed on "Dancing with the Stars" three weeks after having a C-section. After competing, the "Little Women: LA" star thought it wasn't the smartest thing to do after all. The 36-year-old mother said two hernias formed because of the dancing. Also, it affected her nursing relationship with her son, Grayson. She admitted that she missed some of the firsts with her son. The new mother and Sasha Farber ended up in fifth place during Season 23 which was a very competitive season.

Ginger Zee was a new mom on Season 22 when her son Adrian was three months old. The "Good Morning America" chief meteorologist said having a baby while competing on "Dancing with the Stars" was very challenging and really empowering. She made it to the finals and ended up in third place with her partner Val Chmerkovskiy. The 36-year-old mother said she found a pride in herself that she had never experienced before.

Jana Kramer competed during Season 23 when her baby was seven months old. The 33-year-old country music singer said she wanted to show new moms that they can do it all. She said it was challenging, but she made the best of being a new mom to daughter, Jolie, while ending up in fourth place along with partner Gleb Savchenko.

Pro dancer Allison Holker returned to the ballroom during Season 23 when her son, Maddox, was six months old.

The 29-year-old dancer was able to do so because of her support system at home. She said everyone contributed to helping her balance her career with being a new mother. She admitted that the hardest part was leaving her baby at home. That was her fourth season on "Dancing with the Stars. She ended up in 11th place with Kenneth Babyface Edmonds.
