Last year, Disney Movies grossed over $6 billion at the box office. The studio announces that it will not release as many movies in 2017 as in 2016. Still, an amazing line-up of Disney movies is scheduled this year. We feel that Disney is set up to be the champion once again. Let us begin the countdown.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2017. We know that “Guardians of the Galaxy” was a massive hit. It grossed high at the box office, and we are excited to see if “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
2” will earn some of the best reviews or not.
Marvel Studios announced that the movie features Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and Chris Sullivan. Marvel Studios is superb at keeping details about its in-development projects secret. The little bit of information sneaks out, and tells that it is an unusual space story. We feel that James Gunn will create more greatness in Vol. 2.
‘Thor: Ragnarok’
“Thor: Ragnarok” is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2017. It is one of the most anticipated films of the year. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, the “Thor” movies tend to get overlooked in favor of “Iron Man,” “Captain America,” and Guardians of the Galaxy.”
But this does not mean Marvel Studios forgot the Odinson.
In fact, it will soon bring us a third helping of hammer-twirling, Asgardian-punching comic book action. Posters of the film reveal that it stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, and Karl Urban. Jaimie Alexander plays a warrior Sif, and gives Marvel another chance to vaguely hint at a romance between her and Hemsworth's Odinson.
‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’
“Star Wars: Episode VIII” is scheduled to be released on December 15, 2017. Previously, Disney held a meeting of shareholders, where the company presented a list of its upcoming films. The studio releases a sizzle reel of footage from the film. Posters and promos of the movie reveal that “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is a lot like “Empire Strikes Back,” but we cannot say anything for now. The movie is directed by Rian Johnson, and is in post-production these days.
